New at the shop in January are all of the colors of Fantasy from Dark Horse Yarns. This is one of my favorite yarns to work with and I am happy that we brought it to
Pittsburgh. This yarn is half Viscose and half Acrylic. It has a great hand and is wonderful to knit with.

Fantasy comes in a great variety of colors and is probably the finest synthetic yarn on the market today. More than half the knitting I do if for children. And this yarn is great for that. Afghans, sweaters, scarves, I have even made socks out of it. The best part of it is that it machine washable.

Also this month will be new groups and our groups from December will be continuing. Our Ravelry Group will be starting up the second Tuesday of the month. The Men’s group will be meeting again on the 19th. And the Wednesday Group got so large we had to rearrange the store.

We are going to be closed on Monday and Tuesday so that we can expand out seating section and put new stock on the shelves. We also need to get ready for the spring stock that is just around the corner.

Also of note is a conversation that has been going on Ravelry for the last week or so. Many people have been asking about knitting wash cloths out of cotton. Both Aslan Trends and Classic Cotton have a great cotton yarn. Either would be good for making a wash cloth. Just for fun I made one up.

Well be safe out there everyone and I hope to see you at the shop.

Frequent Shopper Program

Posted by Martha on 9th December 2007

Just today the software was in place. So here’s the scoop.

Spend $250 (over time, doesn’t have to be at once) and you will get a 10% discount on your next purchase.
Repeat. :-)

Supposedly the computer will keep track of it for us. And you can easily ask how much you need to spend to get the discount.

However, for awhile, those who have already purchased things will be given their discounts manually, as for some reason the purchases already in the computer don’t add to the $250. So please be patient as we get this system working.

Just in today!
The beautiful Tone-on-Tone Lamb’s Pride Worsted. These are very subtle “variegated” yarns. I didn’t get to see every color but there was a beautiful Brown, Yellow and Red at the top of the box. Oh yes, and a lovely purple!
Kraemer’s Sterling in Red. We’ve had to order another bag as all but 2 walked off as we priced them!
More gadgets and gifts including the adorable Clover Critter cases (We have them all) and new tape measures, including a pig and a car.
Last week we finally got our Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in Bee Stripe! Come see the shawl I made out of this yarn. Just in time for the Steeler’s game on Sunday!

Do stop by and ask what’s new.

Remember, we are open until 9 PM four nights a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. So do stop by after work.
